This course is designed to discuss Linux/Unix Operating environment and its features. Linux/Unix commands, file structure, Regular expressions, shell features will be discussed
 
Week 1, 2, 3 What is Unix, Why Unix, Architectural overview of Unix, Unix versions, Unix login procedure, Introduction to Unix utilites, Unix commands structure
Week 4, 5, 6 Unix process management, process identifier, process hierarchy, ps, vmstat, sar, top, commands; OCT 28, Wednesday is Midterm
Week 7, 8, 9 Unix editor "vi". Introduce shell, regular expressions, File redirection, Shell Pipelines, Redirection  
Week 10, 11, 12 Summary, Advanced commands, ps, sar, chmod, chgrp, Finals

Grading

a. 60 points worth of assignments, Midterm and Finals 20 points each.
b. A : 90-100, B : 80-89, C : 70-79, D: 50-69; F: < 50
